Dennis Mullin and Mary Ann Humphreys were both born in Ireland in about 1814 and 1820, respectively. The couple immigrated in about 1839 — their eldest daughter was born on board ship prior to their arrival in the United States. According to both the 1850 and 1860 census, they lived in Philiadelphia (First Ward, Spring Garden District and 15th Ward).
